About Melissa

Hi, I'm Melissa Skalla, CPA.

For more than 12 years, I've worked with businesses ranging from startups to companies with more than $300 million in revenue. Along the way, I've built and scaled accounting and finance teams from the ground up, led software implementations, supported mergers and acquisitions, and helped companies successfully navigate private equity ownership including successful exits.

But long before I became a CPA, I grew up around small business ownership. My family worked in the trades, so I spent my childhood watching what it takes to build a business, take care of customers, and make payroll. That's probably why I've always enjoyed working with entrepreneurs and owner-operated companies. I understand that behind every financial decision is a real person who has invested a tremendous amount of time, energy, and risk into building something of their own.

Many business owners don't need a full-time CFO or a large consulting firm. They need an experienced advisor they can call when they have a question, a challenge, or an opportunity they're trying to navigate. That's where I come in.

My experience includes everything from cleaning up accounting processes and building finance teams to supporting acquisitions, software implementations, lender relationships, audits, and private equity transactions. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that every business is different, and practical solutions almost always beat textbook answers.

My goal is simple: help business owners build stronger, more scalable companies. In fact, I'd be thrilled if your business grows to the point where you've outgrown my services. That means we've done our job well.

I started this practice because I wanted to combine deep accounting expertise with the flexibility and personal attention that growing businesses deserve. Every company has a unique story, and I love helping business owners write the next chapter with confidence.
